Versailles

The Versailles panel, also known as the parquet de Versailles, originated in 17th-century France during the reign of Louis XIV. Introduced in 1684 as a replacement for marble floors that required constant washing, this intricate wooden parquet design features interwoven geometric patterns framed in squares. Its most famous installation was in the Palace of Versailles, where it became a hallmark of French grandeur and craftsmanship. Over time, the Versailles panel spread across Europe, symbolizing elegance, luxury, and the artistry of classical French interior design.
